Born in Napier though her childhood spent in the quaint Havelock North, Sarah grew up in the sunny Hawke’s Bay, before heading briefly to live for a stint in Japan at the end of high school, then moved to Wellington to study at Victoria University majoring in Modern Languages & Linguistics.
Sadly for a number of reasons (and as do most Kiwi graduates)...she left New Zealand - and moved to Sydney for 3 years working with a multimedia company and travelled through parts of Asia & Europe in between. After having spent a day and a half in Thailand on a stopover to Paris, she decided after 3 years she'd have a go living in Bangkok for a couple of years (not quite knowing what she was in for)...
She had planned to make a lifestyle switch to Bangkok for 1-2 years for a change of culture and language before finally getting over to Europe to live (still not quite there yet, but one step at a time) and found Thailand offered a higher quality of life, dynamic change of language, society & culture.
She assisted setting up a business, did some charity work for kids in the slums and did Marketing & Design work with an international legal firm in Bangkok. She also travelled around Thailand using leave and the abundance of public holidays in Thailand to travel other parts of country and also to Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.
Nearly 18 months into her comfortable lifestyle, the trip came back up on the agenda and she decided it was either now or never. She reluctantly packed up her apartment, left friends behind and was soon blown off the tarmac at Wellington Airport to start to work together on the planning and logistics of the trip.
Sarah would describe herself as flexible, adaptable, motivated and determined and not afraid to just get up give it a go.
